Datasets for Art Provenance Research

These art provenance datasets contain publicly available information originally published online by institutions which has been formatted as a CSV file for easy download and analysis with digital tools.  They are intended to facilitate research into Holocaust-era provenance for scholars, art historians and families.

This provenance dataset, based on publicly available records from the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University Bloomington in 2020, is provided in CSV format for easy analysis. It supports research into Holocaust-era provenance by scholars, historians, and families. For recent provenance, please contact the museum.

NEW: DATASET: Names of Concern in Provenances

Persons and organizations and their status with respect to the Holocaust and art restitution cases, for use in verifying museum collections for Nazi-looted art

This file merges the results of three Wikidata Queries: 
- OSS Art Looting Investigation Unit Red Flag Names
- persons with links to Holocaust art restitution cases
- organizations with links to Holocaust art restitution cases

Fields include Wikidata IDs, names, descriptions, Alt names, GND, VIAF, Proveana and LCCN IDs
