IMMUNITY FROM SEIZURE
The National Gallery is able to provide immunity from seizure under part 6 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007. This Act provides protection from seizure for cultural objects from abroad on loan to temporary exhibitions in approved museums and galleries in the UK.
The conditions are:
The object is usually kept outside the UK
It is not owned by a person resident in the UK
Its import does not contravene any import regulations
It is brought to the UK for public display in a temporary exhibition at a museum or gallery
The borrowing museum or gallery is approved under the Act
The borrowing museum has published information about the object
For further enquiries, please contact information@ng-london.org.
Protection under the Act is sought for the objects listed in this document, which are intended to form part of the forthcoming exhibition, ‘Picasso: Challenging the Past’.

Full length mummiform coffin and lid for a female, ‘Madja’. Wood, carved face and wig, painted overall in white, with painted in black and face in yellow. The figure is depicted wearing a collar in yellow, black and red paint. Four bands are painted in yellow across the coffin, bearing hieroglyphs in black, a central vertical band in yellow also with inscriptions in black.
On the lid, four temple and couchant dog figures (Anubis); at the head a depiction of Isis, at the foot Nephthys.
On the right side of the coffin: Horus eye over a temple; two groups mourners; transport of the sarcophagus.
On the left side of the coffin: Horus eye over a temple; Osiris with sceptres; two seated figures in white garments, one holding a lotus; scene of offerings, two male figures, one with a yoke and one carrying a vase.

Rops Namur (Belgium) description A woman in red dress with yellow detail stands outside at a classical plinth which has a frieze design and dark carved caryatid support. A stone sphinx is visible in the background. On the plinth is a metal dish of classical design, in her left hand the woman holds aloft a fantastic grotesque male figure with top hat and cane, drips fall from this figurine into the bowl. In her right hand the woman holds a half-closed fan. The woman faces to the right. The picture has a rounded upper edge such that the upper corners of the rectangular page fall outside the image, a gilded border continues around the image on all sides.
