1. A longtime employee of the Galerie Heinemann (whose records during the Nazi era are now online), Friedrich Heinrich Zinckgraf took over the art dealership in 1937 when it was Aryanized by the Nazis.
For more on the history of the Galerie Heinemann see Birgit Jooss "Galerie HeinemannDie wechselvolle Geschichte einer jüdischen Kunsthandlung zwischen 1872 und 1938" or Galerie Heinemann online, or Lootedart.com.
According to Kunst durch Kredit: Die Berliner Museen und ihre Erwerbungen von der Dresdner Bank 1935, Hjalmar Schacht backed Zinckgraf financially in the Aryanization acquisition of the persecuted Heinemann gallery - in which Schacht quietly acquired a stake in the profits.
Excerpt from Kunst durch Kredit on Hjalmar Schacht's little known role as a financial backer for Aryanisation of firms in which he then kept a financial stake. |

4. There is a Zinckgraf in the Art Looting Investigation Unit Red Flag List of Names, mentioned in connection to the Bernheimer Gallery:"Formerly bookkeeper and manager of the Bernheimer Gallery, Munich. Later became its owner. Sold to Voss for Wiesbaden."However, according to the German Lost Art Foundation (Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste) this is a mistake. Bernheimer should read Heinemann.

The provenance research is completed. There are no indications that a NS - suggest persecution-related assets loss. However, because of gaps in the provenance history due to persecution asset loss can not be completely ruled out"

5. Many archival documents use the spelling Zinkgraf instead of Zinckgraf, so searches (for example in FOLD3 and Musée d'Orsay) should use both.
