"Key figure in movement of looted works of art between Germany and Switzerland."
Question for provenance researchers: Who was Karl W. Bümming?
ALIU CIR 4
(14) C. W. Bümming (Darmstadt)
German representative of FISCHER of Lucerne. HABERSTOCK exchanged pictures with FISCHER through him. BÜMMING was the most important of WOLFFHARDT's agents in Switzerland. (For details, see Chapter V, Section F, and Attachments 71-A and 71-B.)
VOSS bought directly from him a Zumbusch Boy in a Sweater (#3551), which reached Munich on 5 July 1944.
VOSS thinks BÜMMING is now at Erbach (Sienwald)
